There have been a number of awful cases in America and also in Germany of shootings taking place at schools and colleges. There were usually fatalities - after all, schools don't expect this sort of event to happen and the cowards who perpetrate the crime are picking on a very soft target. There are many instances where teachers were the first to be shot as they tried to protect their students.
Thankfully, England has tended to escape such horrific events and long may this continue. Consider then the school near Worcester which presumably thinking that their students had missed out on all the excitement, recently staged the shooting of one of their popular teachers without warning the pupils that it was only make believe.
Not surprisingly, several students were traumatised by the experience. It wasn't until some 10 minutes after the mock shooting that staff began to announce that it was a sham and the 'dead' teacher arose unharmed.
The Head Teacher has now apologised for the 'prank'. Oh good - that's alright then. What's next on the curriculum? A spoof 9/11?
That is outrageous! What were they thinking???
ReplyDeleteI can't imagine that any good could have come of this. Do you know what the rationale behind it was?
ReplyDeleteI always think of England as ahead of us in this regard. Guess this time, that wasn't the case.
I have been following this story closely and one like it a few weeks previous to that where they faked a holocaust style evacuation and locking the children away letting them believe they would never see their families again again as part of a school project apparently to ignite the children's imagination to produce a better quality of work from them ????? (look it up if you do not know of this one, you will be interested)
ReplyDeleteAfter my initial outrage that this was allowed to tale place, my thought turned to the parents and apparently only one parent challenged the school on this .... I can not get my head round this AT ALL !!!
I would have had my child pulled out of that school by the very next day, there is no way on this earth I would leave my child in the car of an institution that promotes, fear, anger, violence and aggression and in doing so probably mentally scars our children for the rest of their lives.
How was this allowed to happen with out the parents consent? .... lets face it, they would not of got the parents consent, that's how.
There are so many issues I could raise here on both the events that I have been following and I don't think I will ever get my head round how they have got away with it, what's more I fear we will be seeing more of the same time and time again from now on too.
All I have left to say on that issue, is "people wonder why I home school ... well there is your answer" .... it just reminds me once again that I am doing the right thing.
Strange world we live in
